Travel the World Through Your Taste Buds: Bonjour France!

Travel the World Through Your Taste Buds: Bonjour France!

Are you ready to hop on our next plane which will be landing in beautiful France! Though I do have to warn my readers that today will be rather emotional as the story behind this week’s first post.

Where are we going?

This week we are traveling to France. I have only been to France for 3 days but I will be traveling back in the fall for an extended stay for school. The reason I chose to go to France is because when I was in Japan I met one of my best friends, Edouard. Edouard was from right outside of Paris and we grew so close while we were in Japan for that year that we called each other brother and sister, everyone else called us a couple. He spent his time in Japan not only learning Japanese, but also English so that he could talk to me. He also tried to teach me how to say my name in French and I could never do it. He was with me the day I left Japan to come home. I received a message from the Rotary club in Japan about 4 months after I had returned home saying that something had happened and that Edou’s family was looking for me. He had a heart attack out of nowhere and passed away. I was devastated, but when I was in Spain I got the chance to spend his birthday with his family in France and it was absolutely amazing. They took me around Paris and showed me everything there was to see. The first night there they made for me the dish that I made for you here tonight.

What are we making?

We are making Quiche Lorraine, a traditional French dish served at any time of day but is very popular for a brunch item. It is essentially an egg pie with ingredients added into it. A quiche lorraine typically contains bacon, onions, and shredded swiss cheese. I had so much fun making this dish and I have to say it is probably the best entree I have made thus far. My mother tried it and said it was an amazing dish, I plan on doing more variations on this dish as it is really healthy.

Join me later this week when I make a traditional French dessert with my own twist!

And Remember to Take a Bite Out of Life!
