All I have been listening to lately is the Hamilton soundtrack, at this point I can almost recite every song verbatim. For those who are not familiar with this musical it tells the life story of founding father Alexander Hamilton from his coming to New York from the Caribbean to his wife telling his story after his death. This song is a pivotal moment in act I when the Americans are beating the British in Yorktown eventually driving them out and ending the war. This is not peace in the traditional sense that most people may have taken this challenge. This song talks about how peace is finally made between the colonies and Britain. One of the lines says something to the effects of “he frantically waves a white handkerchief” this is a symbol of surrender and ending the war, bringing peace.
